[3:15] What is Type 3? Are we more at risk if we currently have Type 2? Right now Type 3 is more of a researcher thing. Many are finding a correlation between Type 2 and then getting dementia. They want to call it Type 3 because it’s a manifestation of the illness of insulin resistance, or what we would call Type 2. It is a metabolic problem.[4:40] The brain is especially sensitive to changes in blood sugar. The brain is constantly needing sugar. If you aren’t eating sugar, you are making sugar. You could also be drowning in glucose, but your brain may be starving for sugar. We want to call this Type 3. Glucose cannot cross the blood brain barrier, so your brain isn’t getting any…why? In order to get the sugar into the brain, there is a protein that has to do the work. When you have insulin resistance or high blood sugar, you get fewer of those proteins to bring it in.
[7:40] When this happens, the brain increases your heart rate & blood pressure (because it’s starving and needs more blood). When people have this “syndrome” of Alzheimer’s Disease (which it’s technically not because it’s metabolic and Alzheimer’s is a toxicity).
[9:30] The best thing you can do is to have a sufficient amount of sugar to solve this, but what that requires is so counterintuitive that it’s even hard to believe…one must lower their blood sugar, by quitting sugar. You are sugar toxic, and its decreasing the glucose transport proteins & diminishes the amount of sugar that you can get in the brain! Decrease this in the blood! People say you should never have low blood sugar but sometimes you need it.
[10:35] It’s been done in diabetic rat studies as well.
[12:10] What are the signs of Type 3? Dr. Dale Bredesen from UCLA did a study with 32 people and in 29 he was able to reverse Type 3. They were on a low glycemic diet, did the 610 Reset, exercising their brain, exercising, and took supplements like CinnaChroma, Nervala & Magnesium. (Grab yours at www.bartonwebinar.com) This program has been very successful at reversing this..
[16:40] With Type 3, Women are more likely to get it than men. It does have to do with the Adrenal Glands, PCOS. These do increase the risk for metabolic dementia and diabetes, but more so insulin resistance. High adrenals make you resistant to insulin. We do attack PCOS with diet, exercise, supplements and we balance the hormones, but the predisposition is definitely genetic.
[18:30] Genetic testing for Alzheimer’s Disease. The genes increase your risk by only 4-10%. You can decrease your risk by taking care of yourself like we do in the Diabetes Solution Kit, which can be found at www.bartonwebinar.com.
[20:15] Sugar Toxicity. Rice, bread, corn =sugar.
[20:30] The brain is the most important thing to take care of. How do we stay active mentally?
Brain Biopsy study from UCLA shows deceased people had everything in the brain for Alzheimer’s Disease, but keeping it active will repair. The repair isn’t what you would expect. * Book- The Brain’s way of healing. Parkinson’s patient and walking relieved symptoms.
